Current Favorite Things

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Hello everyone! I have been working on lots of DIY blog post ideas and cant wait to share them! Today I thought I would share some of my favorite things i have come across recently.
*My first favorite thing is watercolors. I got this set on my birthday from Michaels and its the best! There are so many great colors and they are very pigmented so the color comes out really nice. I've also been working on finishing this watercolor building from my art class at school and the dark red color is perfect for the building. I'm hoping to do a DIY post with watercolors soon!
* A couple weeks ago my mom my sister and I drove over to Denver, Co to watch the musical Wicked and it was Amazing!!!  This musical has some of the best songs, my favorites are "Popular", "Dancing Through Life", "For Good", and of course "Defying Gravity". The best moment is when Elphaba is lifted in to the sky and sings the last notes of "Defying Gravity".  The sets and costumes were also super amazing.
* My next favorite thing is this little shelf from Ikea. It's called raskog. on our trip to go see Wicked we also made a visit Ikea. I the store was a lot huger that i expected but they had a lot of cool house stuff for pretty cheap.
*My last favorite thing is this app Phhhoto. It makes stop motion gif videos by taking a few really fast photos then loops them back. I have made a lot of really cool and funny ones.

DIY Felt Earbud Holder

Saturday, January 31, 2015

I'm always throwing my headphones into my backpack or purse where they always
get super tangled. I've seen some cute headphone holders on Etsy and Pinterest and
I knew I had to make my own. There great at keeping ear buds untangled and there
super easy to make!

You'll Need: Two colors of felt, Scissors, Two jars of different sizes, a sewing machine or
needle and thread, Chalk, and a button

Start by tracing around the jars on the felt using chalk. You'll want two different sized
circles from different colors of felt.
Next cut out the two circles you traced. I used special scissors called pinking shears to make
this cute zigzag design.
Now place the smaller circle in the center of the large circle and sew them together.
Next you'll want to sew on a button. Make sure to put the button on the inside of the ear
bud holder. For example I flipped mine over to the yellow side and and placed the button
close to the top.To find the where to put the button hole fold it in half and cut a small slit
where the button meets.
Now your done! you'll will never have tangled ear buds again. :)

I love these so much. There super useful and super cute. Definitely a win win!I hope you like
this DIY. Thanks for reading!

DIY Tissue Paper Wreath

Monday, December 15, 2014

Hello Everyone! Can you believe Christmas almost here? I'm super excited about it, and even more excited that winter break will start this weekend.
Today I'm sharing this simple tissue paper wreath I made for my room. I think its a festive and simple way to add some color to any space for the holiday season.

Materials:
A foam wreath
Tissue Paper (any colors)
Ribbon
Wire
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Pom poms (optional)

Step 1: Cut strips about 1 1/2 inches wide from the tissue paper. Then make slits in each peace to make the fringe and cut pieces that will fit around the foam.

Step 2: Using a hot glue gun make a dot of glue on the back side of the wreath and stick the tissue to it. Wrap the tissue around and glue the other end down in the same spot.

Continue step 2 till you have covered the whole wreath with your same color pattern.

Step 3: Turn the wreath over to the back and poke a small hole in the foam using the scissors. Make a loop out of a small piece of wire, stick the ends in to the hole and add some hot glue. Hold the wire place for a few seconds till the glue dries. This will help you hang the wreath.

Step 4: To make the bow simply tie a bow using the ribbon of your choice. To add a little extra sparkle I added a glittery pom pom in the middle. To put on the bow try hanging it up to ensure that the bow is centered correctly.

This wreath is super simple to make and very cute to have around your house. I looks great hanging on a door or set on a mantle. I Hope you enjoyed this DIY. Happy Holidays!!!

DIY Pencil Bag

Monday, October 6, 2014

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing this cute DIY pencil bag that I made a little
while ago for school. It's super simple and cute and its a great way to carry pencils,
pens and anything else.

Materials:
Printed fabric
Felt(any color)
1 medium sized button
thread
a needle
a sewing machine
scissors
Step 1: Cut both your printed flower and felt. The printed fabric should be 9 by 11 inches.
The felt should be 9 by 4 inches and the two of the corners should be rounded.
Step 2: Hem one side of the printed fabric. Simply fold the fabric about half an inch
and pin it in place. Then sew along the pin line.

Step 3: Pin of the flap. Line it up with the top edge of the fabric. Pin it on the
brighter side of the printed fabric. Then sew it along the pin line.

Step 4: Fold the fabric so that the dull side of the fabric is showing. line up the hemmed
side of the fabric to where the flap begins and pin it in place and sew.
Step 5: Flip the bag right side out. mark where you want your button on both the bag
and the flap then sew it on and cut a button hole.

Once you finish this you will be done! I hope you enjoyed this post!
